Flash flood

The term 'Flash flood' as it applies to the area of the weather can be defined as ' A sudden, brief illumination of a conductive channel associated with lightning, which may contain multiple strokes with their associated stepped leaders, dart leaders and return strokes'.

The term 'Flash flood' as it applies to the area of reclamation can be defined as ' A flood which follows within a few hours of heavy or excessive rainfall. A flood of short duration with a relatively high peak rate of flow, usually resulting from a high intensity rainfall over a small area'.
